  1. Very interesting, thank you. As I’m discovering during A Year of Reading the World, novels by experts can give you fascinating insights into things you may not otherwise have much knowledge of. It sounds as though this is the go to book for ant politics (there’s a sentence i didn’t expect to write today).

  2. In MUTUAL AID, Peter Kropotkin, the Russian anarchist with a strong affinity to Doukhoborism, writes about his observation of ants and states that for people to survive cooperation is necessary. He also postulated that the species that competes against itself exterminates itself. Is there anything of this sort in Wilson’s books? P.

    • Absolutely. Wilson’s controversial reputation stems from the argument that group selection is as important to human life as is individual selection.
